CONEY HATCH
THEN...AND NOW!
THE HATCH IS BACK!
1981 - present day
Carl first joined Coney Hatch (Andy Curran, Steve Shelski and Dave Ketchum) in 1981. It wasn't long before they scored their dream record deal with Anthem, produced by the legendary Kim Mitchell. They produced three albums to world wide release (see discography pix) hitting out with Coney Hatch (1982). The band's debut recording was produced by Canadian rock legend Kim Mitchell formerly of the band Max Webster. Coney Hatch's next albums were: Outa Hand (1983)
Friction (1985), Best of Three (1992).
While Carl was in a coma after his car accident in 2008, Andy Curran, hoping Carl's subconscious would register the words, spoke to Carl via phone. Andy promised if Carl survived they'd record a new album. They all kept to the deal! An incredible twenty eight years after their last album and with Carl on the road to recovery Coney Hatch Four (2013) was released.
In the 80s Coney Hatch were described as the "loudest band in Toronto". In their youth Coney Hatch toured with the likes of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Krokus and Ted Nugent...but sometimes the stars don't align and Coney Hatch eventually went their separate ways. In 2010 Coney re-formed to keep the now famous promise to Carl. Frontiers Records came to the party and Coney Hatch Four was released in 2013 - to rave reviews (and minimal airplay in Canada!)
Sean Kelly joined the lineup in 2014 breathing new life into classic guitar riffs.
2018- 2025 THE HATCH IS BACK
A brilliant tour with Steve Harris' British Lion (the lads first toured together while supporting Steve in Iron Maiden's tour for 40 shows) Now touring together again they had a total grin-fest and rocked great shows with CH songs sounding tighter than ever. Cheers and thanks to VIA Rail and Nobis Outerwear for that tour. Next Coney Hatch played their hearts out at H.E.A.T. Festival Germany , Sweden Rock, Hamburg Summer Festival and UK's Firefest
IN celebration of the anniversary of their debut album Coney Hatch played a special "acoustic set" at The Redwood Theatre Toronto in 2025
