THE CARL DIXON GUESTBOOK
Hi Carl,
When David & I got the message of your accident we both got on our knees and prayed that 1st you would pull through & 2nd your recovery would not be so difficult. I know you are very strong & you have the best support system around you, in Betty and the girls. I have been calling Garry or Kim Peterson every day to get an update on your recovry. I tried calling the hospitsl, but they wouldn't let me through. They must think that you are a star or something lol.We don't care where your first show will be. but I promise the Hortons will be front & center. You have alot of people who love you starting with your family to your friends.
Loce ya guy,

Hello Carl...just checking in on you and your progress...hope today finds you full of smiles and a brighter day than some that have passed. Hang-in-there...
First of all, thanks for keeping up the communication and letting all your friends know how you are doing. Everyone I talk to wants to know the latest and have you in their thoughts. So, keep the communications flowing!
Personally, I have had so many sympathy pains for you that I"ve decided to opt for knee replacement surgery which is now scheduled for Sept 2nd....so I'll be looking for some tips on rehab and how to deal with all those therapists and doctors and nurses! Perhaps you and I can go out and watch/coach/kibitz all those old hockey players while they attempt to play the game....or at least we can go out for the cold ones after the game! That sounds like the best idea. Then we can both hit the ice running after rehab....and the rest of them won't know what hit them...we'll be in such good shape! Maybe you can even convince me to try some of that radio stuff during rehab?!?!????....but only if you are there to help!...so hope to see you soon back in Haliburton. The black flies are almost all gone and even the squitters are calming down a bit.
Hey Carl I hope that you are feeling better and i'm glad that you survived.Been a fan of your music since the first time that i heard it,Monkey Bars always my fav,and as a bass player i have been in bands that have covered a Hatch tune or two.I played a lot of your music on the air on an FM radio station that i started in Sydney Nova Scotia when i lived in Canada and i believe that they still are.I've since moved to Wichita last September and i'm playing in a kickass rock band.I'm about to turn 47 and i still love to crank it to 11 and "try" to bang my head without getting dizzy lol.In any case you take care and get better and bear in mind that God has a plan and that your survival is part of his plan for you.

Dear Carl, Betty, Lauren & Carlin,
Know we are thinking of you and praying.
Psalm 46
1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Shalom,
Alice
Carl, I just heard about your accident. I wanted to reach out to you, Betty and your two beautiful daughters to tell you how happy I am to hear that you are recovering well. We still remember how welcome you made us feel at Epcot last year. You are such a warm, loving person which is why you have so many supporters. Keep on getting stronger so we can hear you sing again.
Lori, Sydney & Gillian Belcher
Hey Carl ,after looking @ the photos of that car ,who could say there is no god ?
All of your Canadian fans are praying for you & your family.
godspeed on your recovery bud
Dan
The other half of the Firefly road crew just gave me a call and told me about the accident. Glad to hear that you're doing better after such a horrific crash, and I hope your rehab progresses as quickly as you're hoping it will. Just take it one step at a time and get on home to your friends and family, then you can start working towards getting back on stage. In the mean time, just keep on healing and writing. I'm a firm believer that great things somehow seem to always come out of bad times, so keep positive and look forward to all the good times to come.

Hi Carl,
As I was one of the paramedics who attended the scene of your accident, I can only agree that your survival and subsequent recovery is nothing short of amazing. I, along with my paramedic colleagues (who also attended the scene), were extremely pleased to hear of your progress. As paramedics we’re often exposed to scenes of tragedy and hopelessness, so to see the photo’s of you seated with your daughters beside you has provided us with a great deal of happiness and professional satisfaction. I wish you well in your continued recovery and return to full health.
Regards,
Paul Fletcher

Hi Carl,
Just read what you shared with us about your progress. You are a fighter and and inspiration to us all. We love you and look forward to having you back home in Haliburton, with the rocks, the water and it's beauty.
Miracles never cease my friend. You are a testament to that. We're praying for you. Keep the faith ! Strength, Love and Light to you, Betty, Carlin and Lauren Hugs !
Seeing that picture, and reading what he's been going through, all other stuff aside, you just can't help but sincerely hope for the guy. Didn't realize how long a road it is for Carl, but seeing him healthy and all the way back would be excellent. I can't rescind my stance on the Guess Who, that would be hypocritical, but wish only the absolute best for Carl personally, in his recovery. That's the only issue of importance, obviously.
Carl, From the tech crew at Amgard Theatre at Epcot from the Flower Power Series, we are wishing you a full and speedy recovery! Our thoughts are with you and we want you back next season! Keep rockin!
I think of you often.Hoping your rehab goes quickly. Just getting home is an incentive. I have a walker you can use for rehab when you get home & a stationery bike.Hope to see you soon in beautiful Haliburton County .
Dear Carl, When I seen the pics.of the car on your site I could not imagine the horrer until iseen them. But it goes to prove that all prayers can move moutains and that the big guy whats you here for a purpose. You are a good person, which we all new all along.God looks after the good people.Love and prayers always from Daryl,Joey, and myself.God Bless and anyting you need let me know. M.J.C.
Hi Carl, I work with your buddy Kevin Julie and he just informed me of your current situation. Just wanted to send you a boatload of strength. Get better...and back on stage.
"Don't say make me..."
Hi Carl,
Keep pullin' the load and I'm sure you'll get home soon.
Perhaps you'll get a job as a singing pirate and sail home.
Michael J.
Hi, Carl, I must say, I like the haircut. I am deeply relieved you are still with us.I pray you have a speedy recovery and I hope you can get home soon as I am sure that will help.
All the best to you and your family
Dear Carl,
I am so impressed and warmed by your generous spirit in sharing your recovery with us. Your home sounds like a wonderful place, and the portrait of you and your daughters is deeply moving. We are all human, and in some way we share your suffering. A few days ago I took my father to see George Jones in concert, and when he spoke of his nearly fatal car accident I thought of you. Given your energy and insight, I have no doubt that you will bounce from this. Best wishes to you and yours.
Hi Carl,
Read your message and was very moved. You are such a wonderful person. I am so glad to be your friend. You are an inspiration to us all. God is surely with you & your family. We are all lucky to have you in our lives. We will keep you in our prayers, and will see you next spring. Keep up the good work and don't do to much to hurt yourself.
Love your friend always, Marilyn
Hey Carl
Just logged on and got the latest message and photos. It was so great to see your face again! You've been to hell and back buddy but you made it! I knew you would. Kim and I think about you every single day and we can't wait to see you again.
Get well soon my friend. We miss you!
Hello Carl, best wishes on your recovery. Your words and photos help us to fully understand the severity or the accident and the hard work needed for recovery. We all know you and your family's strength will get you through this. You are constantly in our thoughts. Remember, there is a place waiting for you here on the West coast for some R and R when your ready. Say hello to Betty Carlin and Lauren. Keep us posted on your progress and your return back to Canada. Love as always the Vander Hoeven's of Powell River.
Hang-in-there Carl...I'm glad to see you are sitting up and have a smile on your face. After seeing the car, we are lucky to still have you here with us. Just like my daughter, her truck looked like a piece of twisted metal..after it rolled, flipped and hit a guardrail, went around a concrete pillar of an overpass and was caught on the guard rail on the other side of the pillar. Both of you must have a mission in life to have survived such accidents. Your family was blessed and so was mine. I hope the other person was as fortunate and survived. You will be back on stage before you know it and the fans will be yelling again. Hang tough my friend...keep smiling and keep fighting! By the way Carl…you have some beautiful girls. We were blessed with 3 girls (giggle-and one Grandson-the love of my life) and 1 son. My son is in Alaska (Army Airborne) He just returned from Iraq and I’m so happy he’s home.
Hi Carl, First I've got to say. After being so close to death you still look better than most men in their 40's. Good for you. I don't know if you want some humor to tell your family. Back when we toured Newfoundland St. John's. Circa 1979 or 80. You were concerned about your hair and how It should be in top shape(as we all had something we were proud of for sure)You used an egg wash for conditioner. Unfortunately you used hot water to rinse. I felt so bad for you. Only you and I knew what happened. This is a story I hope you tell your daughters. It's good to have a sense of humor. I'm not going to say I know what you are going through, cause only you really know, as I have had to battle stage 3 cancer. I liked your Idea about a song resulting from your accident. It might help others.Do you and me a favor.Do not set time frames for performance comebacks. You have more healing than you think. A fall comeback is too soon. Heal my friend heal. Look at 2009. And remember, Its not what you've lost, its now what you've gained. An appreciation for your family and home and most importantly, your most important job in life. Being a good husband and dad. Our daughters would not be the same without us.
Love
Bryan Hughes
your brother
God has a plan for you, my friend. That is one hellacious mangled heap of metal. Take your time to heal, reflect on life and what you want to do with it, and write from the heart.
Stay strong, prayers are said for you by many.
We think about you and pray for your speedy recovery often. As I look at the pictures of you and the pictures of your car, I know God has answered my prayers because it sounds and looks like you are recovering well! I am truly looking forward to seeing you in concert again! Steve and I truly enjoyed seeing you at Wildwood in Steelville and will never forget your thoughtfulness!
God is on your side Carl, when I see the pictures of the car and you, you look great but the car doesn't.
Still keeping you in my prayers every day and can't wait for you to get home to the Highlands.
Keep up the healing.
George Porter
